Digit at hundredths place
So, increase the hundredths place digit by 1 and
replace each digit after hundredths place with 0.
\ Rounded off number of 64.205 = 64.210
Rounding off a Decimal to the Nearest Thousandths (Correct to Three Decimal Places)
« First, examine the ten-thousandths place digit.
« If the ten-thousandths place digit is less than 5, then replace each digit after
thousandths place with 0.
« If the ten-thousandths place digit is 5 or greater than 5, then increase the
thousandths place digit by 1 and replace each digit after it with 0.
Example : Round off the following decimals to the nearest thousandths :
a. 19.8374 b. 0.8829 c. 57.0635
Digit at ten-thousandths
place is less than 5.
Solution : a. Given decimal = 19.837 4
So, replace each digit after thousandths place by 0.
\ Rounded off number of 19.8374 = 19.8370
